Join the Chorale

Do you enjoy singing with a group, mastering challenging choral works, improving your singing talent - and live in the Central Virginia area? Sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses are all welcome. Although formal musical training is not required, previous experience with choral singing is encouraged. Simple auditions with the director are for vocal placement within the group.

If you want to join or have rehearsal questions, please complete and submit the form on our Contact Us page. A Chorale representative will respond to you.

For safety's sake, the Chorale is recommending (but not requiring) that all singers have COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters if medically possible, and please note that while masks are not currently required by our hosts, you are welcome to mask during rehearsals and concerts if you wish.

Singer Support

Singers not only contribute with their talents but they also support the chorale in the form of financial contributions in membership dues, music fees, and ticket sales. Also, the optional membership dues serve to affirm a singer's commitment to the artistic director's efforts, and to regular rehearsal attendance.

Music fees pay for the singer's sheet music, and the music is theirs to keep.

Contributions of membership dues are tax-deductible as allowed by the IRS; however, music fees are not.

Please note that CVMC does not want dues or fees to be a barrier to participating in the chorale; please contact the board to discuss options.

Rehearsals

The Chorale performs music from the best of choral literature in concert at least twice yearly. Rehearsals for the winter concerts begin in early September and for the spring concerts in mid-January. Typically, there are a minimum of twelve rehearsals per season.

Rehearsals are Mondays from 7-9:15 PM, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church, 201 Henry Street, in Ashland.

For directions, see Venues.
